Twelve Bridges Trail March 28, 2017
DIFFICULTY: Easy
ELEVATION GAIN: 40 feet maximum rise twice along the trail
HIKE DISTANCE: About 4.8 miles
GENERAL LOCATION: South across Twelve Bridges Road just outside of Lincoln Hills
DESCRIPTION: We
are using a different trailhead this year from Wilson Park. This trail
showcases the Orchard Creek Open Space Preserve established by Lincoln
when the adjacent homes were approved. The trail meanders between
development and the adjacent preserve. (It is similar to our SCLH
trail system) The hike begins at Lincoln’s Wilson Park. It
crosses grasslands adjacent to small ponds and wetlands (watch for the
water birds). It straddles a small rise near oak woodlands. The trail
then flows adjacent to homes and wild areas. A portion follows a
sidewalk along Eastridge Road and the climbs about 40 feet and then
nears Coyote Pond. We will stroll around the pond and we
will have our snack in Coyote Pond Park next to the water. From
the pond we will return on the way we came. Like Lincoln Hills
the open areas frame the development and at times are surprisingly
wild. This is 10 foot wide paved City trail for most of its
length. GREAT TRAIL FOR BEGINNERS AND WALKERS.
SNACK: Bring a snack. You will be home for lunch
