Location: Angel
Island
State Park, Tiburon
Description:
Ferry ride
from landing in Tiburon across Raccoon Straits to Ayala Cove. Trail
begins at ferry
landing. We will
ascend to the Perimeter
Road and proceed up to Mount Livermore on the Sunset Trail. We will
spend some
time on the summit with panorama view of the Bay Area.
We will descend back to the east on Ida
Trail, and follow around the east and north side by fire road,
Perimeter Road,
and back to Ayala Cove. The views include the Tiburon peninsula, Golden
Gate
and Marin peninsula, San Francisco, east bay cities, and North Bay. We
will take
a lunch break on the east side of the island. If time permits, we plan
to have
a tour of the Immigration Center on the way back to the ferry.
Vegetation will
include oak, bay, and pine tree forest, and grass lands. Ferry
departs Tiburon at 10:00 am and return will be 4:00 pm.
We have about 6 hours on the island.
Travel
Time / Distance and Cost:
Travel time 2
-1/2 hour. The
driving distance is approximately
75 miles.
Parking
will be in City Lot A. Cost
for all day
is $5. Suggested
donation to driver for
travel including parking is $13.00.
There
is a Ferry ride cost of $14.00 per person, cash or
check only. This is round trip and includes Angel Island State Park
Admission. Detailed
driving directions will be provided
at the assembly area.

Notes:
Facilities: Stop on the way by car, with
facilities at the
landings, and couple locations along the hike.
Risks:
Insects may be present however
not likely, bring a good insect repellant for precaution. The
weather
should be mild (60’s)
with possible brisk winds. Bring
layered
clothing.

Preparation
for Hike:
1.
Bring a copy of your ID (driver's
license), Health Card, and
an emergency contact name and phone number with you when you hike.
2.
If you have any
health issues, please consider your condition before hiking.
3.
Always bring 2 pairs
of shoes, along with a plastic bag to store your muddy/dusty hiking
boots after
the hike. DO NOT get your driver's car dirty by wearing your
dirty boots
on the drive home.
4.
Trekking poles are
advised, along with lunch, snack, plenty of water and sun screen.
Return: We will exit Marin
County as quickly as
possible. We plan
to stop for dinner at La
Strada in American Canyon. Italian cuisine.
Approximate Dinner costs, depending on
your choice of entree $15
-$22. Return to OC
Lodge about 8:30 PM. If you do not
want to stop for dinner,
make sure you ride with others that don’t want to stop.
Meeting
Place and Time: Meet
in Orchard Creek Parking Lot, Section 14 near the fitness center at
6:45 AM. We
Leave at 7:00 AM.
Rain cancels the hike.
Check website the morning of the hike for any
update.
