CHICO HIKE AND DINNER

DIFFICULTY:  Moderate.

ELEVATION GAIN: Less than 300 feet, Low elevation.

HIKE DISTANCE: Hike 8 miles out and back on dirt trails in Upper Bidwell Park.

HIKE DESCRIPTION: From Hooker Oak parking lot off Manzanita Avenue in Chico, hike out and back on dirt trails through oak woodlands near Big Chico Creek.

OPTIONAL DINNER: After hike, early dinner at Sierra Nevada Taproom 1075 East 20th Street, Chico, with brewing exhibits and gift shop. RSVP to Dan, DLCORTIN@aol.com.

FOOD AND WATER: Bring water and a snack or lunch.

TRAVEL TIME/DISTANCE:  About 90 minutes to drive 75 miles one way. Donation of $12 is suggested for riders. Directions will be handed out to all drivers.

FACILITIES:  Rest rooms at Hooker Oak parking lot and in Upper Bidwell Park.

PREPARATION FOR HIKE:  Sturdy boots or walking shoes are recommended.

BRING THE FOLLOWING: Bring a copy of your ID (driver's license), health card, and an emergency contact name and phone number with you on the hike.

ABOUT YOUR FOOTWEAR: Always bring two pairs of shoes, along with a plastic bag to store your muddy/dusty hiking boots after the hike.

RISKS:  Watch for traffic when crossing roadways. Trails may be muddy if it has rained.

HEAVY RAIN ON DAY OF HIKE OR DAY BEFORE CANCELS HIKE DUE TO MUD.
