DEER CREEK TRIBUTE TRAIL
TUESDAY,  AUGUST 2, 2011

DIFFICULTY:  Easy to moderate --- "easy" because the majority of the trail is level, but "moderate" because the distance is approximately 6 1/2 miles.

ELEVATION:  Highest point - approximately 2700 feet.  Lowest point --- approximately 2500 feet

HIKE DISTANCE:  Approximately 6 1/2 miles (in and out, not a loop)

GENERAL LOCATION:  Outside Nevada City

DESCRIPTION:  If you have enjoyed hiking the Cascade Canal Trail in Nevada City, it is possible you will enjoy this trail even more!  Nevada County Land Trust has created this trail describing it as a "multi-use trail offering a cultural and ecological greenway through Nevada City."  It actually begins in Nevada City and then moves along scenic backroads and trails.  We will start at the end of the trail and follow the pretty Newtown Canal for a few miles, then take a side trail (downhill)  to Stocking Flat where we will have an early lunch break and enjoy the cascading waterfall of Deer Creek.   The trail has both shaded and sunny areas.  Come and try out this new trail!!

TRAVEL TIME/DISTANCE:  65 minutes driving time and 43 miles one way.  Return time to Lincoln ---- approximately 1:30 pm.  A donation of $6 is suggested for riders.
Driving directions ---- see below and please print before coming to the hike, if driving.
