DIFFICULTY:   Easy

HIKE DISTANCE:
5-6 miles on flat pavement – no elevation gain

GENERAL LOCATION:
Sacramento where the American River flows into the Sacramento River near Interstate 80 and Interstate 5

DESCRIPTION: 
With its 275 acres studded with stands of mature trees and grasslands, this park is a favorite of local fishermen and this is where locals go to cool off in the summer time.  The American River Bike Trail begins at this park and it is very popular with bikers.   We will follow several paths though the park and then follow a bike trail along the Sacramento River before turning back to our cars.  We will drive to Chevy’s which overlooks the American River and is a very popular place in the summer.

 

TRAVEL TIME/DISTANCE:  30 miles1 way from Lincoln Hills.  45 minutes travel time.  $5.00 donation to drivers is suggested.  There is a $5.00 parking fee which should be shared.

SPECIAL NOTES: 

FACILITIES AVAILABLE: Restrooms are available in the park.

 PREPARATION FOR HIKE

      1) Bring a copy of your ID (driver’s license), health card, and emergency 
          
contact name and phone number with you on the hike. 

2)    It is not necessary to wear hiking boots unless you prefer.  The path is paved and so there should not be mud unless it rains hard just before the date.

3)    Bring water and and dress in layered clothing.  

      4)    Bring money for lunch at Chevy’s on the river.  If you choose to not eat at the restaurant         then bring your own lunch since there are many picnic tables in the park.

 MEETING TIME:    9:15 in the parking lot.   We will leave at 9:30.   Return time will be approximately 2:00 after we eat lunch and drive back to LH.
