HIDDEN FALLS REGIONAL PARK LOOP Creeks, Pools, and Waterfalls THURSDAY, NOV 19, 2015
DIFFICULTY: Easy/Moderate
ELEVATION GAIN: Probably about 1000 feet total climbing. Some short steep places.
HIKE DISTANCE: About a 5.1 mile loop.
GENERAL LOCATION: Hidden Falls Regional Park, between Lincoln and Auburn
DESCRIPTION:
This hike travels along creeks, pools, and waterfalls - a welcome sight
in our drought. We take the Poppy Trail along Deadman Creek to
the Whiskey Diggins Bridge. We then proceed on the Blue Oak Loop
trail to the Seven Pools Vista on Coon Creek. We follow Coon
Creek on the Seven Pools Loop trail. There are some good vistas
of Coon Creek, its pools and cascades. We then take the brand new
Canyon View trail, along Coon Creek Canyon, to the Canyon View
Bridge. From there we can climb to the Canyon View overlook, and
hike a short way up North Legacy trail to a view of lower Hidden
Falls. We will stop at the Hidden Falls overlook for a lunch
break. Hidden Falls is flowing well, since the Whiskey Diggins
diversion dam is not diverting. We return on Hidden Falls Access
trail and back up then Poppy Trail to the parking lot.
TRAVEL TIME/DISTANCE: Only a short drive from Lincoln – about 15 miles – and a $3 donation to drivers. Should be back between 2 and 3 PM.
HIKE LEADER/SWEEP: David and Monique Wood
