LOWER LOLA MONTEZ LAKE TRAIL
Thursday, October 23, 2014

DIFFICULTY: Moderate

ELEVATION: Starting elevation: 6640 feet. Highest elevation: 7200 feet (at the Lake)

HIKE DISTANCE: 6 miles total — 3 miles in and 3 miles out (not a loop)

GENERAL LOCATION: Off Hwy. 80 near Soda Springs

DESCRIPTION: This is a wonderful hike to a very pretty lake named after this “Femme Fatale”,
Lola Montez. The hike leader will tell the story of this famous person while hikers eat lunch at
lakeside! The trail starts in a forested area, then goes along a dirt road, crosses Lower Castle
Creek, and shortly after that returns to a forested environment. We will cross the creek by
stepping on rocks — it will be an easy crossing with trekking poles.

TRAVEL TIME/DISTANCE: About 1 1/4 hours drive and approximately 60 miles one way.
Return time to Lincoln — approximately 3:30 pm. A donation of $9 is suggested for riders. If
driving, please print the driving directions before coming to the hike — see below.

HIKE LEADER: Mike Nusink SWEEP: TBD

SPECIAL NOTES:

FACILITIES: There is no bathroom at the trailhead. We will stop at Nyack to use their
bathrooms before reaching the trailhead.
