Sacramento River Bike Trail

DIFFICULTY: Easy

ELEVATION GAIN: Less than 100 feet.

HIKE DISTANCE: 5 miles

GENERAL LOCATION: Along Sacramento River on the South end of the Pocket Area

DESCRIPTION: This is a very pleasant out and back hike along the Sacramento River. The trail begins at the Bill Conlin Sports Complex on Freeport Blvd., and proceeds north along the Sacramento River on the levee’s bike trail. The trail is mostly paved, with some hard pack on the north end.   Upon returning to the cars, those wishing to warm up and snack, we will offer a break at the Freeport Bar and Grill, a short drive, prior to returning to Lincoln.

TRAVEL TIME/DISTANCE: 3/4 hours each way. One way distance is about 40 miles. This is a $5 driver donation. Please have the correct bills. Detailed driving directions will be handed out to all drivers. We plan to return home before 2:00 pm.

FACILITIES AVAILABLE: One at the trail head, and one at Garcia Bend Park.

PREPARATIONS FOR HIKE:

1)   IF YOU HAVE ANY HEALTH ISSUES, PLEASE CONSIDER YOUR CONDITION BEFORE HIKING.
2)
   Bring a copy of your ID (driver's license), health card, and an emergency contact name and phone number with you on the hike.
3)
   You may bring 2 pairs of shoes, along with a plastic bag to store your hiking shoes after the hike.
4) Bring comfortable walking shoes, sunscreen, insect repellant, water, and, if
you wish, a lunch.

5) Bring warm clothing, and layer.

MEETING TIME: 9:00 am in the Orchard Creek Parking lot - leaving time is 9:15 am.

 

CANCELATION: Rain on day of hike will cancel hike.
