WOW – Wide Open Walls

Sacramento Mural Walk – Downtown Lunch

Tuesday, May 15, 2018

DIFFICULTY: Easy

ELEVATION GAIN: Difference between high and low points is less than 100 feet.

HIKE DISTANCE: Approximately 5 miles

GENERAL LOCATION: Downtown Sacramento

DESCRIPTION:  The Wide Open Walls mural festival took place from August 10th through the 20th, 2017.  40 artists – local, national and international had 10 days to complete their murals.   Quoting the festival organizers, “The festival celebrates the relevancy and diversity of street art, and will transform walls and neighborhoods throughout the downtown area and beyond.”   Many of the 2017 and 2016 murals are still up and can be enjoyed along with other murals along the walk from previous years.

We will drive to Watt Ave. and take the Light Rail into downtown Sacramento.  This is a very pleasant walk/hike for the winter month it’s all on pavement with no mud to worry about.  Half way through our mural walk we plan to have lunch before completing the walk and heading back to Watt Ave. on the Light Rail. Do not expect to see all 40 artists, that’s not possible.

TRAVEL TIME/DISTANCE: 20 minutes to Light Rail.  We plan to return home around 4:00 pm.

HIKE LEADER / SWEEP:  Stephanie Huntingdale/Phil Huntingdale, Questions?  916-408-1747
