DESCRIPTION: The 457-acre Weimar Institute is owned and operated by Seventh-day
Adventists since 1978. Although not
accredited, health degrees are offered, along with lifestyle programs
designed to prevent and reverse disease through natural methods, including lots
of walking!
Weimar is
private property with 18 mi of mostly shaded trails through varied terrain,
including level paths and more strenuous routes.
Starting
out among the ponderosa pines of the campus, we’ll encounter oak woodlands,
sweet peas, manzanita, blackberry and grapevine thickets, open meadows with
wildflowers, cedar groves with ferns, and the creek with its willow and alder
trees. There are many ups and downs, some steeper
than others. We’ll see recent clearing by PG&E to prevent fires.
We’ll have lunch on the pine
needles in the cemetery, which is spacious and peaceful. Bring plastic or something to sit on.
