DIFFICULTY:  Moderate to difficult due to length of Hike and (possible) heat


ELEVATION GAIN:  
About 600 feet


HIKE DISTANCE:  
About 7 miles


GENERAL LOCATION:  
North Fork American River


DESCRIPTION:  
This is designed to be an aerobic hike, strictly walking ‘till we get to the river, bring lunch or snack. For those who wish to cool off, bring or wear your bathing suit. The trail is all down and then up from the river. What goes down must come up!  Also, it is mostly paved, except for the Cardiac section.  The pace will be 'easy does it' especially on the up-hill, as heat might be a factor.

 

TRAVEL TIME/DISTANCE:  1/2 Hour, 13 mi one way. Riders pay $3 to driver.

SPECIAL NOTES:

 

           FACILITIES AVAILABLE:   There are bathrooms at the start in the parking lot, and two more comfort stations along the way.     


           PREPARATION FOR HIKE:  
Wear walking boots and bring plenty of water, sun screen lotion, hat, and a small towel.   Bring walking poles if you need to and bathing suit if you want to dabble in the river.
