GENERAL LOCATION:
City of Woodland, 11 miles past Sacramento Airport off Interstate 5

DESCRIPTION:
Prepare to be impressed! Woodland contains an extraordinary number of historic homes, from bungalows to mansions, dating from the 1860s to the 1940s. The rich variety of architectural styles includes Italianate, Queen Anne, Prairie, Craftsman, Spanish Colonial Revival, and Moderne. We will stop at some of the homes best exemplifying these styles, and Barry—a former National Park Service historian associated with the National Register of Historic Places--will outline their distinguishing characteristics and history. We will also traverse part of Woodland’s historic downtown, stopping at the 1896 Opera House and lunching at the 1903 Yolo County Savings Bank, now an excellent Mexican restaurant.

TRAVEL TIME/DISTANCE: About one hour/40 miles--$6 contribution to driver suggested.
