GETAWAYS

Getaways are special 2-4 night trips to locations which are typically beyond the range of a day trip.  Getaways are exclusively for Lincoln Hills Hiking Group members.

2011 Fall Getaway - Sept 6 to Sept 10, 2011.  This getaway is in the initial planning stage - the details will be announced at the Sept 30, 2010 election meeting of the Hiking Group.

 

 

 

WESTERN PLACER WASTE MANAGEMENT FACILITY

What: A tour of the Western Placer Waste Management Facility

When: July 27th meet at Orchard Creek P/L by mailbox at 10AM to leave at 10:15AM, carpool to site, tour begins at 10:30AM and takes about 1 1/2 hours

Purpose: To see and experience how the ONE BIG BIN operation works

How to get on board: Email Penny at luckypenny42@sbcglobal.net and the first 15 responses will go this time around. (They will take up to 30, but, I feel that is too many to be able to hear and ask questions). I plan to go to the picnic tables by the tennis courts after the tour with anyone who would like to take a bit of time to talk about their experience.

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY

The Lincoln Hills Hiking Club has formed a Trail Building sub group to work at our newest regional park, Hidden Falls.  We go out the every 2nd and 4th Tuesday of the month. The work is clearing brush. So come out, Guys and Gals, have some fun and at the same time get a good feeling by giving back to the area.  Tools and gloves are provided, but please bring plenty of water and a snack.  We meet at Orchard Creek Lodge parking lot at 7:45 AM, leave at 8:00, and return around noon.

THREAT TO DONNER SUMMIT WILDERNESS
