Twelve
Bridges Trail
February 12, 2015
DIFFICULTY: Easy
ELEVATION GAIN: 40
feet maximum
HIKE DISTANCE: About
5 miles
GENERAL LOCATION:
South across Twelve Bridges Road just
outside of Lincoln Hills
DESCRIPTION: This
trail showcases the Orchard Creek Open
Space Preserve established by Lincoln when the adjacent homes were
approved.
The trail meanders between development
adjacent to the preserve. (It is
similar to our SCLH trail system)
The
hike begins at Pebblestone Lane and Parkside Road. It crosses
grasslands
adjacent to small ponds and wetlands (watch for the water birds). It
straddles
a small rise near oak woodlands. The trail then flows adjacent to homes
and
wild areas. A portion parallels a road and the climbs about 40 feet and
then
nears a small pond which we will stroll around and where we will have
our
snack. We will
return on the way we
went. Like Lincoln
Hills the open areas
frame the development and at times are surprisingly wild. This is 10 foot wide paved
City trail for
most of its length. GREAT
TRAIL FOR BEGINNERS AND WALKERS.
