DIFFICULTY: Moderate

ELEVATION: Highest & starting elevation - 1280 ft.; Lowest elevation - 350 ft.

HIKE DISTANCE: 6.2 miles

GENERAL LOCATION: In the outskirts of Auburn

DESCRIPTION: Exploring this area gives a hiker an amazing wilderness feel! It is close to the city of Auburn, yet it seems far away. We will hike several ridges DOWN to the American River where we will stop, eat lunch, and enjoy the beautiful scenery. The return trip will be all UPHILL but the gradient is fairly gradual (except for one short steep section).

A unique rock art display adds a creative touch to the hike! Close to the river's edge we will see remnants of a historic canal and rock walls.

TRAVEL TIME/DISTANCE: 30 minutes driving time and 13 miles one way. Return time to Lincoln --- approximately 2:00 PM. A donation of $3 is suggested for riders. Detailed driving directions will be handed out to all drivers.
