BROWN’S RAVINE

DIFFICULTY:   Easy / Moderate

HIKE DISTANCE:   5 miles—in and out, not a loop,  560 feet of elevation gain

GENERAL LOCATION:   on the south side of Folsom Lake

DESCRIPTION:   We will hike a portion of the Brown’s Ravine Trail in the Folsom Lake State Recreation Area. There are scenic views of the water and a fair amount of shade.  The trail is packed dirt with rocks and roots, a couple of small steam crossings, and up and downhill terrain.   We’ll have lunch at picnic tables near the water after the hike. 

TRAVEL TIME / DISTANCE:   40 minutes driving time  -  27 miles one way  

Suggested donation to driver is $5.  

Please bring your CA State Park pass, otherwise the entry fee is $11 per car.

FACILITIES AVAILABLE: Restrooms are available at the marina, and nonflush toilets near the trailhead. 

PREPARATION FOR HIKE:

1)     If you have any health issues, please consider your condition before hiking.      

2)   Bring a copy of your ID (driver’s license), health card, and an emergency contact name and phone number.

3)   Always bring an extra pair of shoes, along with a bag to store your dusty hiking boots after the hike.  Be considerate about keeping your driver’s car clean. 

4)    Bring hiking poles, water, snacks, and lunch. 

 

 RISKS:   It's July—it will be HOT!  Bring sun screen and plenty of water.

 

 MEETING TIME:  7:15 am  -  leave at 7:30    Expected return time around 1pm.
