GENERAL LOCATION: In
the area of Foresthill Road ---
starting 7 miles east of the famous Foresthill Bridge (before
reaching the
town
of Foresthill)
DESCRIPTION: This well
maintained loop trail in the Auburn
State Recreation Area straddles the Foresthill Divide, the
ridge between
the North Fork and the Middle Fork of the American River. The
highlight of
this hike is its diversity ---- the trail passes through four
eco-systems:
yellow pine forest, foothill woodland, riparian woodland, and
chaparral. It also traverses
through
open grasslands with lovely spring wildflowers. In
other words, your
eyes will have a lot of different scenes in nature to enjoy!!
Lunch will be at a panoramic overlook of the Middle Fork of
the American
River area.
TRAVEL TIME/DISTANCE:
Approximately 40 minute drive and 25
miles. Return time to Lincoln --- between 3:30 and
4:00 pm. A
donation of $4 is suggested for riders. Detailed
driving directions
will be handed out to all drivers.

Sturdy boots are
required ---- and trekking poles recommended, but not required
