Total gain, with all ups and downs is 600 feet
HIKE DISTANCE: 6 miles
DESCRIPTION:
Start in Spenceville Wildlife and Recreation Area at the old town of
Spenceville. Proceeding east on old roads and trails to Fairy Falls (Shingle
Falls) for a break for snacks and return.
Grass lands, wildflowers, and oak woodlands prevalent in the sierra
foothill setting. Fairy Falls is two significant water falls that should
provide a site at this time of year.
TRAVEL TIME/DISTANCE: 3/4 hours each way.
One way distance is about 20 miles. This is a $3 driver donation. Please have
the correct bills. Detailed driving directions will be handed out to all
drivers. We plan to return home before 2:00 pm.

FACILITIES AVAILABLE: No restrooms directly available.
PREPARATIONS FOR HIKE:
- Bring
a copy of your ID (driver's license), Health Card, and an emergency
contact name and phone number with you when you hike.
- If
you have any health issues, please consider your condition before hiking. If

- Always
bring 2 pairs of shoes, along with a plastic bag to store your muddy/dusty
hiking boots after the hike. DO NOT get your driver's car dirty by
wearing your dirty boots on the drive home.
- Bring
hiking boots, sunscreen, insect repellant, water, snack or lunch.
RISKS: Trail is gravel, dirt, and rocks at falls
could be slippery. Poison oak is in the area.
Need to be very careful on the overlook of the falls.
WEATHER: Should be
in the 60’s during hike.
RETURN TIME: Approximately 1:00 pm
at OC Lodge
MEETING TIME: 8:00 in the Orchard Creek Parking lot - leaving time is 8:15
am.
CANCELATION: Rain on day of hike will
cancel hike.
