FOLSOM CITY WALK

HIKE DISTANCE:
 4-5 miles walking through the city of Folsom and also on the nearby American Bike Path.


GENERAL LOCATION:
In and around Folsom


DESCRIPTION: 
 The walk/hike will consist of visiting the old truss bridge

          that has been restored to Folsom, walking past many of the original

          historical houses, walking on the bike path, spending a short time on

          Sutter Street before eating lunch at one of the local restaurants.  After

          lunch we will have a docent led tour of the Folsom Powerhouse which

          in 1895 became one of the first hydroelectric plants in the country and

          provided electricity to Sacramento.

 

TRAVEL TIME/DISTANCE:   Folsom is about 20 miles from Lincoln Hills. Based on the length of the drive, a per person monetary contribution of $3 for gas would be appreciated --- to be given to the driver at beginning of drive. Detailed driving directions are included in this description at the end.

SPECIAL NOTES:    Hike will be cancelled if there is significant rain and

  check with the website for any cancellation notices that morning.                   


PREPARATION FOR HIKE:

 

     1) Bring a copy of your ID (driver’s license), health card, and emergency 

          contact name and phone number with you on the hike. 

2)    It is not necessary to wear hiking boots unless you prefer. 

3)    Bring 2 pairs of shoes, along with a plastic bag to store your muddy/dusty hiking boots after the hike.  DO NOT get your driver's car dirty by wearing your dirty boots on the drive home.

      4)  Bring money for lunch, water and warm and layered clothing.
