DESCRIPTION:
Gibson Ranch is one of the Sacramento County Regional Parks.    It is one of the few remaining publicly owned working ranches.  It originally was over 1700 acres but now is around 300 acres.  The livestock includes many horses (some thoroughbreds) with many stables and pastures for the horses, cattle, sheep, goats, pigs, turkeys, chickens, and lammas.   There is a stocked fishing pond, numerous picnic tables that can be reserved for parties, a small swimming beach on Dry Creek, and the original barn is still standing.  This is a beautiful ranch/park that is about 20 miles from Lincoln Hills.  Come and visit and remember this as a great place to return with family and friends for a future picnic!

TRAVEL TIME/DISTANCE:  Gibson Ranch is about 20 miles from Lincoln Hills.  It is located southwest of Roseville in Antelop.   Based on the length of the drive, a per person monetary contribution of $3 for gas would be appreciated --- to be given to the driver at beginning of drive. Detailed driving directions will be handed out to all drivers.  There is also a $5 parking fee at Gibson Ranch.

HIKE LEADER/SWEEP: Joyce Clark/Ada Squires

SPECIAL NOTES:

FACILITIES AVAILABLE: Restrooms are available at the location

PREPARATION FOR HIKE: Since this is on level ground, hiking boots and hiking sticks are not necessary.  But warning again!!  Due to the large number of horses that use the same walking trails, there are horse droppings.  If you are sensitive to the sight or smell, this hike isn’t for you. Bring lunch .
