At the time of this writing it was not possible to pre-hike the trail.
The preserve was closed for the elk hunting season. It will only
be open the week we are hiking in the preserve. The preserve is managed
to enhance wildlife and migratory birds. The preserve has seasonal
ponds and wetlands. The trail is balloon shaped. We will walk along old
gravel and dirt levee roads, through meadow areas and adjacent to
waterways. We may see elk, otters, and other small mammals and numerous
birds. Bring food for lunch. We will eat along the trail.
