Check out the prehike sequel - see link at bottom of page
DIFFICULTY: Strenuous based on distance not elevation gain.
ELEVATION CHANGE: +/- 750 feet. Starting and ending elevation: 950 feet. Lowest elevation: 200 feet.
HIKE DISTANCE: 9 miles – loop hike
DESCRIPTION:
This hike will take us along the following trails in a clockwise
direction: Poppy, South Legacy Way, Pheasant, Golden Eagle Loop,
Warbler, Cooper’s Hawk, Gold Finch, Salmon Run Bridge, Creek Side,
North Legacy Way, Canyon View Bridge, Hidden Falls Access, and back up
Poppy to the parking lot. The pre-hike pictures include a route
map and elevation profile chart. Although this is a “Mike Hike”
Sue Geisler has selected a route that assures Members there will
be no river fording, rock hopping, off trail scrambles, cave exploring,
snow capped summits, or long treks through a desert.
Hidden
Falls trails both old and new are well groomed offering panoramic
views, enough grade to get the heart rate up, walks along and above
Coon Creek, and ample canopy from trees with Latin Botanical names that
are impossible to pronounce. This loop hike offers picnic tables
right when you need them for rest and lunch breaks along with stops at
two observation decks.
