DIFFICULTY:   Easy

HIKE DISTANCE: 4-5 miles

GENERAL LOCATION:  Land Park south of downtown  Sacramento.  The park where the Zoo and FairyTown  and Funderland are located.  Located in a wonderful old  neighborhood of Sacramento with lovely homes    surrounding it.  Come and learn more about the area.

DESCRIPTION:   We will walk around and through the  park.  There are plenty of paths around athletic playing  fields, picnic areas, a golf course and the zoo.  We will  not enter the zoo since the admission is near $10 for  seniors but you can always return on your own.  Bring  a packed lunch for stopping at one of the picnic areas.

TRAVEL TIME/DISTANCE:  Approximately 35 miles one  way and will take about 45 minutes driving.  Parking should not be a problem mid-week but it is on the street  and we will need a fixed meeting spot at the park.  Based   on the miles, $4 is to be paid to the driver.

PREPARATION FOR HIKE:
     1) Bring a copy of your ID (driver’s license), health card, and emergency 
           contact name and phone number with you on the hike. 
2)    It is not necessary to wear hiking boots unless you preferr.  It could be muddy if we have had some rain  and make certain your shoes can handle mud.  Bring 2 pairs of shoes, along with a plastic bag to store your muddy shoes after the hike
3)    Bring water and lunch and layered clothing.
