Neighborhoods and Wonderful Downtown

Elevation: Relatively flat with some hills up and down

 
Hike Distance: 4 miles approximately

 
General Location: Nevada City

 
Description: We will walk many of the winding interesting streets in Nevada City looking at the amazing varieties of houses and various buildings. There will be a short stop at “The Foundry” which is a sort of museum to mining equipment. We will stop for lunch at Posh Nosh (but if you choose to bring a brown bag lunch there are park benches available in the city). Afterwards carpools can come directly back to Lincoln or decide to remain a little longer to allow for shopping. Nevada City has some Wonderful old homes and lots of mining history.

 
Travel Time/Distance: Approximately 1 hour from Lincoln Hills. Mileage – approximately 40 miles to Nevada City. A contribution of $7 to the driver would be appreciated. Return time to Lincoln: Near 2:30 pm if not in a carpool which decides to stay for some shopping!  Detailed driving directions will be handed out to all drivers.

Special Notes:

Facilities: At Burger King in Grass Valley before the hike and several public restrooms in Nevada City after about 1 hour of walking.

Preparation for the Hike: Since this is on streets and sidewalks, hiking boots and hiking sticks are not necessary. Wear comfortable walking shoes and layered clothes since the day could heat up. Bring water and lunch if you decide not to eat at Posh Nosh.
