Description: Easy
5.2 mile loop on paved Lincoln Hills preserve trails and neighborhood
sidewalks. OPTION: Add an additional mile with a short but steep uphill.
First
day of summer and longest day of the year! We will watch the full
Flower Moon rise over two pretty ponds as the sun is setting. Walk in
the gloaming along the Orchard Creek, Orchard Creek South, Mallard
Pond, Fountain Hill, and Northeast Preserve trails, connected by
village sidewalks. Uphill incline on Ridge Top Lane but otherwise
mostly level with gradual rises.
PREPARATION FOR HIKE:
- Hiking boots not necessary but wear sturdy shoes.
- Will be WARM until the sun sets about 9:00 PM--bring ample WATER and insect repellant.
- NO RESTROOMS once we leave Orchard Creek.
- Bring headlamp or flashlight--full dark about 9:15 PM. Binoculars are good for moon viewing.
