Sun City Lincoln Hills Trails

Tuesday, Jan 22, 2013

DIFFICULTY: Easy/Moderate

ELEVATION GAIN:
about 100 feet

HIKE DISTANCE:
8 miles

GENERAL LOCATION:
Sun City Lincoln Hills

DESCRIPTION:
Join us for this local excursion social event. The hike covers two main Sun City trails - Ferrari Pond and Canyon Oaks (“the Grand Canyon”) – and lots of other trails and streets to connect them. This will not be a stroll – the pace will be brisk, and the distance is long. We will meet at the normal place at Orchard Creek lodge, and when we return, we plan for lunch at Meridians. We will need a head count of those planning on lunch.

TRAVEL TIME/DISTANCE: none - no drivers - no $$

HIKE LEADER/SWEEP:
Monique Wood Fred Crofut will jointly lead.  Since no one can get lost, we will not sweep. Hopefully, you will know your way home from where ever we are (see below for a map) – but maybe bring your cell phone to call for a loved one to come and rescue you.  David Wood who "designed" the walk, cannot make it due to a broken toe.

SPECIAL NOTES:

FACILITIES AVAILABLE: At Kilaga Springs Lodge, Angler’s Cove, and the Sports Pavilion.
PREPARATION FOR HIKE:
This is a sneaker hike. No boots, no hiking poles.  Wear your most comfortable walking shoes. Bring water and a snack.  We will  have a rest break at the Kilaga Springs.

RISKS: Crossing streets.  Also, walking about 5.2 miles before a restroom break.

QUESTIONS: Call Monique or David at 408-7562

WEATHER: This hike works in unpleasant winter weather, but we will not in the rain. Check the website for any cancellation.
