Wilson Park – Coyote Pond Park

DIFFICULTY: Easy out and back hike on flat, paved, smooth wide cement surface with an elevation gain of 141 ft.

HIKE DISTANCE: 4.8 miles

GENERAL LOCATION: Whitney Ranch, off Joiner first left after firehouse and roundabout into the Wilson Park parking lot.

DESCRIPTION: Walk among Beautiful oak trees and rolling hills. Track houses along the route. Walk to Coyote Pond, loop around pond and stop for a quick snack break on picnic benches. Return on same route.  Trail is shared with other walkers with leashed dogs and strollers.

TRAVEL TIME/DISTANCE/DONATION: 3.7 miles (9 minutes) from Orchard to Wilson Park parking lot. Suggested donation $2 to driver.

HIKE LEADER/SWEEP: SPECIAL NOTES: Leader: Laura Hamilton Sweep: Tess Devenish. Hiking poles and boots not needed. Comfortable walking shoes recommended. Layered clothing appropriate for weather. Bring snack and water.

FACILITIES AVAILABLE: PREPARATION FOR HIKE: Bathrooms in the Wilson Park parking lot.  No other facilities on hike.

RISKS: Rattlesnake warning signs, but trail is 8’ wide and hike to be done in winter.

MEETING TIME: 9:00am in the Orchard parking lot by the OC fitness center, leaving time is 9:15am
RETURN TIME: Expected return to Orchard before noon.

Bring a copy of your driver’s license, Health card, and an emergency contact name and phone number with you when you hike.
