YUBA RIM TRAIL
TUESDAY, APRIL 5, 2016

DIFFICULTY:  Moderate

ELEVATION:  Starting elevation — approx. 2500 ft.  Elevation gain:  500 ft.

HIKE DISTANCE:   Approx. 5 miles

GENERAL LOCATION:  In Yuba County near Bullards Bar Reservoir

DESCRIPTION:  Come and enjoy a brand new trail!!  The Bear Yuba Land Trust opened this trail in April 2015 — and if you like a quiet forested area ending in a wonderful vista of the surrounding forest and mountains beyond, this is the trail for you!  The trail is one person wide for the first mile, then switchbacks up a ridge and climbs steadily.  After the switchbacks, the trail meets an old logging road (and open sun),  heads downhill a distance, then uphill to the vista lookout.  The trail is rugged in places with blackberry vines creeping over the trail, but it is not difficult hiking. Lunch will be at the overlook site.
On the drive to the trailhead you will cross Bullards Bar Dam — and on the drive home, you can stop at a road pullout and get a great view of the face of the tall dam.

TRAVEL TIME/DISTANCE:   2 hours driving time and 74 miles one way.  Return time to Lincoln — approximately 4:00 pm.  A donation of $10 is suggested for riders.  Driving directions — see below and print before coming to the hike, if driving.

HIKE LEADER:  Sue Geisler  SWEEP:  TBD
