Lakeview Connector Trail

Thursday, July 12

DIFFICULTY: Easy

ELEVATION GAIN:
Hike runs from about 1550 to 1800 feet.

HIKE DISTANCE: 5 miles.

GENERAL LOCATION:
Auburn State Recreation Area

DESCRIPTION:
The trail is mostly shaded, passing through interesting stands of manzanita and madrone trees.  Scenic highlights were views of  upper Lake Clementine and Robbers Roost, a historic lookout point for outlaws trying to rob
stagecoaches.

TRAVEL TIME/DISTANCE: Approximately 45 minute drive to the trailhead.

HIKE LEADER/SWEEP:
Sue Geisler.

SPECIAL NOTES:

This hike was an alternative hike to the cancelled Summit Lake hike.
The high probability of thunderstorms and lightning strikes in the High Sierras on the day of the Summit Lake hike made it necessary to select a safer destination for hiking, hence the Lakeview Connector Trail in the Auburn State Recreation Area was chosen.  The hike turned out to be very pleasant although quite warm.

QUESTIONS: Call Sue Geisler at 408-1010.

MEETING TIME: 7:00AM – leave at 7:15AM.
