San Francisco Lands End and Golden Gate Park

HIKE DISTANCE:
  3.5 to 4 miles in Lands End and about 4.5 to 5 miles in Golden Gate Park – Total = 8 to 9 miles


GENERAL LOCATION:
  San Francisco


DESCRIPTION:
  We will hike the Lands End Coastal/Trail (parksconservancy.org) from the parking lot past the ruins of the Sutro Baths to the Legion of Honor and back to the parking lot. After lunch, (bring a lunch) we will visit Golden Gate Park (within a mile) (golden-gate-park.com) and hike a loop through the park returning to the parking lot at Lands End.

TRAVEL TIME/DISTANCE:  132 miles – 3 hrs. We will take a break about halfway at the Vallejo rest stop on I 80.Driver donation should be $18.

PREPARATION FOR HIKE:
   Walking or hiking boots, Poles if you use them, Sunscreen, water, snacks, Layered clothing and a wind breaker.

MEETING TIME: Orchard Creek parking lot at 6 AM. The reason for the early start is twofold: First it gets us there early enough to hike Lands End before lunch and secondly we beat the bridge tolls which would add $14 per car (3 toll bridges).
