NEW YORK TRAIL IN EL DORADO HILLSTuesday December 29, 2009
DIFFICULTY: Easy–
HIKE DISTANCE: 3-4 miles roundtrip on a slightly
rugged trail – no
significant elevation gain
GENERAL LOCATION: In El Dorado Hills on Francisco
Drive.
DESCRIPTION: This
hiking trail is situated in approximately 28 acres of New York Creek Nature
Area. It is maintained by the El Dorado Parks District. It
provides botanical settings and views of native wildlife
along the small New
York Creek. We will
also cross over to Fairchild
Park where there is a
very
interesting Indian Grinding Rock.
TRAVEL
TIME/DISTANCE: The New York Trail is about 25 miles from
Lincoln Hills outside of Folsom off Green
Valley Road.
Based on the length of the drive, a per person monetary contribution of
$4 for gas would be appreciated --- to be given to the driver at beginning of
drive. Detailed driving directions will be handed out to all drivers.
HIKE LEADER/SWEEP: Joyce Clark / TBA
SPECIAL NOTES: Hike will be cancelled
if there is significant rain or mud.
FACILITIES AVAILABLE: No restrooms are available at
the location but there is a nearby McDonalds to make a pit-stop.
PREPARATION FOR HIKE: Since this is on fairly level ground, hiking boots
and hiking sticks are not necessary but an option. Afterwards we will eat lunch at a local Folsom restaurant.
