Olompali State Park / Mount Burdell

DIFFICULTY: Moderate

 

ELEVATION GAIN: 1,500 Feet from near sea-level.

 

HIKE DISTANCE: approx. 10  Mile Round Trip

 

GENERAL LOCATION: Novato, CA

 

DESCRIPTION: This land was a major Miwok Indian trade center for hundreds of years (from about 500 A.D.). A gently sloped trail climbs 1,500 Feet to the summit of Mt. Burdell. Views are of Marin, Sonoma and Napa counties. Trail returns past a replica of a Miwok village.

 

TRAVEL TIME / RETURN TIME TO LINCOLN HILLS: 2 Hours /115 Miles each way. We may stop for dinner on the way home, depending on time & traffic. We should be home about 7 PM at the latest. Based on the length of the drive, a per-person monetary contribution for gas of $15 would be appreciated. To be given to driver at beginning of drive. Detailed driving directions will be handed out to all drivers.

FACILITIES AVAILABLE: Restrooms at Park

PREPARATION FOR HIKE: Bring hiking shoes, layered clothing, water, snacks , a lunch and money for dinner in case we stop on the way home.

RISKS: At low altitude, poison oak is always a possibility
