DESCRIPTION:
The Presidio of San Francisco has gone from being a military outpost to
an urban national park. This year we have added a side trip to
“Billionaires Row” and a tour of the recently re-constructed
Presidio Officers’ Club. On our visit we will stroll down
Lover’s Lane, the oldest footpath in the Presidio, as well as walk
through forests of eucalyptus, cypress and pine, view a British
artist’s wooden sculptures, have a photo op with Yoda, the small statue
that sits outside the Letterman Digital Arts Center, explore the Main
Post where the Walt Disney Museum is located, hike by the National
Cemetery and the Rob Hill Campground, the only overnight campsite in
San Francisco, walk through neighborhoods built between 1860-1970 and
the Cavalry Stables and the treasured Pet Cemetery, and see stunning
views of the Golden Gate and points beyond from overlooks in the
park. If you haven’t had the opportunity to explore the San
Francisco Presidio, you don’t want to miss this hike. Our route
will cover most of the park from the Bay to the Pacific Ocean and many
sites in between.
TRAVEL TIME/DISTANCE: 2
1/2 hour drive to San Francisco. Hiking time between 4-5
hours. Return to Lincoln about 6:30pm. An option for dinner
would be to dine at the Marin Brewing Company. Return to Lincoln
about 8:30pm or later. The one-way distance is about 127
miles. Based upon the length of the drive, a per-person monetary
