DIFFICULTY:  moderate to strenuous with uphill and downhill travel, uneven ground and rough terrain.

ELEVATION:  Basic elevation about 1000' - amount of up/down unspecified

HIKE DISTANCE:  5.5 miles

GENERAL  LOCATION:   Between Hi-way 49 and Hidden Falls Park

DESCRIPTON:   The Land Trust has invited us to preview potential trails.  The trail at Placer Land Trust’s Big Hill Preserves has unusual rock formations, the gently flowing Coon Creek, and spectacular panoramic views of the Sierra Nevada foothills and Sacramento Valley. These preserves at Big Hill in North Auburn are a photographer’s delight.  This is a wilderness outing in a natural setting:  there are no restrooms, benches, or water available.

We suggest a $10 minimum donation per person. Your donation helps expand our trail system and keeps you informed of other upcoming events. We accept cash or checks at the event, or you can donate online via credit card at http://www.placerlandtrust.org/donate/ .

When you arrive for the hike, you will need to sign a waiver form required by the Placer Land Trust.  Denny will have copies available when we meet at Orchard Creek.

TRAVEL TIME/DISTANCE:   20 miles ,45 minutes.  Suggested donation to driver $3.

SPECIAL NOTES: 

PREPERATION FOR  HIKE:
1)    If you have any Health issues, please consider your condition before hiking
2)    Bring copy of your ID (drivers license)  Health Card and an emergency  contact name and phone number with you on the hike .
3)    Always bring 1 pair of shoes along with your Hiking Boots , along with a bag to store your dirty hiking boots on the drive home. Pease be considerate of the driver’s car and wear your  clean shoes on the way home.
4)    Wear sturdy shoes, clothing appropriate for the weather conditions, (we suggest long pants), and a hat and sunscreen. Bring plenty of water and a brown bag lunch or snacks to enjoy along the way. Don’t forget your camera!  Trekking poles are always  recommended.


MEETING TIME:  7:15 Leaving at 7:30  - We must be ready tp hike with the docent by 8:30
