DIFFICULTY: Moderate

ELEVATION GAIN:
Starts at 6,250 foot elevation - 350 feet gain

HIKE DISTANCE:
9-10 miles

GENERAL LOCATION:
D. L. Bliss State Park, Lake Tahoe West Shore

DESCRIPTION: This is a beautiful trail that skirts the shore of Lake Tahoe, giving us great views into the deep emerald green water below. It is one of the true treasures of the Tahoe area. The trail is mostly flat or on gentle grade, although there are a few places with steep steps to climb. We plan to have lunch on the beach at Boat-In Campground on Emerald Bay where you can have a swim in very cold water. If time permits you may wish to visit Vikingsholm, less than a mile from the beach.

TRAVEL TIME/DISTANCE: About 2 ¾ hours -110 miles each way ($18 donation to driver – also parking fee at Bliss State Park to be shared). We plan to return home late, after dinner out.

HIKE LEADER/SWEEP:
Clark Smith/TBA

SPECIAL NOTES:

FACILITIES AVAILABLE: At beginning of trail head at Bliss State Park.
PREPARATION FOR HIKE:
Refer to #8—Standard Hiking Equipment and #9—Guidelines for Hiking on the “Hike Information and Guidelines” handout (also posted on web site). Bring a lot of water, as much of the trail is in the sun.

DINNER: Since this is an all-day hike and is far away, we plan to stop for dinner in Tahoe City before returning home. If that doesn’t work for you, try and arrange your own carpool for early return.
