HIKE DISTANCE: 8 Mile loop

GENERAL LOCATION: Eastern area of Bidwell Park, Chico, CA

DESCRIPTION: The Yahi Trail is named after an native tribe which lived in the area until 1911 when the last surviving member, Ishi, left his hiding place and gave himself up. The trail follows Big Chico Creek eastward from Horseshoe Lake to the eastern edge of Bidwell Park. Very interesting many layered TUSCAN formation made up of volcanic mudflows from between 1 and 4 million years ago.

TRAVEL TIME/DISTANCE: 2 Hrs./ 80 Miles – This is a $12 ride. We will stop in Oroville for a rest break.

SPECIAL NOTES: The trail is rocky in some areas.

FACILITIES AVAILABLE: Portable toilets along the trail.

PREPARATION FOR HIKE: Layered clothing, water bottles, hiking boots, Lunch & money for dinner on the way home.
