ELEVATION GAIN: Lots of up and down hill. Loop starts at about 150 feet above sea level
and climbs to about 600 feet. There are
two climbs of roughly 200 feet, a couple at 100 feet or so and the rest is

1,100 feet.
HIKE DISTANCE: About an 8.0 mile loop. Length is what makes it strenuous. You will know you have had a full days hike
when your done, but you will be happy you came on the hike.
GENERAL LOCATION: Rockville Hills Regional Park, 2149 Rockville
Road, Fairfield, California.
DESCRIPTION: The city of Fairfield has kept this hilly
expanse on the west part of town wild and free.
One could compare it to a little more used regional owned park like our own
- Hidden Falls. What you find at
Rockville Hills Regional Park is a maze of trails ranging from lush and
challenging single-track to wide and accessible fire roads that are used by
mountain bikers, hikers, trail runners, dog walkers, and picnickers. The loop trail that we will take will pretty
much circumnavigate the park. The park
is fairly compact. We will follow a
series of trails that sort of spiral up to the highest ground in the park. From there, you’ll have views of Mount Diablo,
the delta and the surrounding valley.
Along the way, you’ll pass by scores of oak-studded hills, lots of
manzanita and toyon and two lakes.
TRAVEL TIME/DISTANCE: 1 hour and
30 minute drive to Rockville Hills Regional Park. There is no restroom at the trail head so we
will make stop at a local shopping center along the way, Hiking time between 4-5 hours. Return to Lincoln about 3:30 to 4:00 pm. The one-way distance is about 75 miles. Based upon the length of the drive, a per-person
monetary contribution for gas would be appreciated: $12.00 to be given to
driver at beginning of drive. Detailed
driving directions will be handed out to all drivers.
HIKE LEADER/SWEEP: Jim Fisher/Denny Fisher
