DESCRIPTION:  This hike is in a different area above the Middle Fork of the American River - on the opposite side of the river from Rucka-Chucky.  The trail climbs moderately steeply, drops, then climbs again and drops again, so the round trip consistes of 4 600 foot climbs.  Most of the hike is in forest - there are a few vistas of the Middle Fork.  The trail passes several old mining areas, a beautiful rock wall, and about 4 small waterfalls, where there are non-challenging stream crossings.  The surface of the trail is mostly dirt and leaves.  The trail ends at Canyon Creek, where we will have lunch by the creekside.
